A Day in May Tag

Hi everyone!  Since Winter was pretty much replaced by Spring during its season here, Winter is taking a bit of revenge now that the Spring season is here!  Yesterday, it snowed most of the day.  Since it was a wet snow, accumulations weren't high.  Today, it is very cold.  Seems like the seasons don't know where they belong anymore!

It is no secret how much I love Pion Design papers and really don't like to cut into them!  However, I did make a tag for a swap using A Day in May papers.

I began by inking the edges of a manila tag  with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  Next, I layered a couple of pieces of pattern paper onto the tag.  Martha Stewart Smoky Quartz glitter was applied to the Spellbinders diecut doily.  I cut an image from the papers, attached it to the stripe paper and adhered it with foam tape to the doily.  The flowers and metal embellishment are from Recollections.  The butterflies were fussy cut from the papers.  The vintage button is from my stash.  A bit of vintage lace trim was attached to the bottom of the tag and a seam binding bow was tied at the top.

It was a lot of fun putting this tag together.  Some of you may already do this, but in order to save time, I have started to diecut quite a few different shapes to have on hand when I'm crafting.  It makes the time go faster in putting together a card or tag when these items are all ready to go.

Well, that's it for me today.  It's been a busy weekend, so I haven't had much time to craft.  I did manage to squeeze in some time to stamp a few images to color for future cards.  I hope you are having a good weekend with some crafty time.  Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind comments.  Have a wonderful week ahead!

  2. Hi Patty: the glittered doily sure captured my eye, and the vintage lace. Lovely lovely tag. We had 15cm's snow overnight and this morning - winter is lingering in NS as well. Tomorrow is supposed to go to +7, so hopefully it will all melt quickly.

  5. Such a beautiful tag, Patty! I love the vintage look and the neutral color combo, and all your layers are fabulous. That bit of sparkle and shine is gorgeous. Love the mix of trims and the metal embellie, too. Such a great mix of texture and details!

  7. Beautiful Patty!! I love the little fancy doily shape, what a lovely way to add interest! I do the same thing as you. Whenever I sit to watch a movie, I grab my machine and a couple of my favourite dies and run a bunch of them off to have on hand. Saves time during the creative process and it's a great way to use up your little bits of paper!! Have a great week. hugs :)

  8. I know what you mean about saving scraps--I find that rummaging through them always inspires the next creation. Your tag is lovely and like how the embellishments extend over the edges. The butterflies--dreamy!

  10. Patty, I know exactly what you are saying about having pretty papers and not cutting them! but I'm happy you did, because they look lovely on your gorgeous tag! Great idea to cut some additional die cuts to have on hand. I should take a lesson from you! What a beautiful tag you have created! Hugs!
