Altered Shabby Chic Box

Hi friends!  I hope things are going well for you.  Can you believe August arrives tomorrow (although it has already in some parts of the world)?

My project today began with a small box I purchased at Hobby Lobby.  I first gave it a coat of gesso followed by two coats of Martha Stewart Summer Linen paint.  Then the fun began.  The inside of the box and the top of the lid were covered with paper from Prima's Tea Thyme collection.  After that, I just started covering everything with various laces and trims from Joann's and some that were gifted to me by a dear friend.  I used Fabric Tac to adhere everything.

Here it is finished.  The resin piece in the front is from Melissa Frances.  The large fabric flower on the lid is my first attempt at making one.  I used a rhinestone button from Joann's for the flower center.  The glittered flower is from Recollections.  You can barely see the decorative metal legs by Spare Parts that I placed at each corner.

You can see the details of the lid better here.  The Spellbinders butterfly was cut from cardstock as well as vellum for a layered look.  I tucked a Prima diecut leave under the larger flower.

In this photo, you can see the butterfly with pink pearls from Recollections a little better as well as some small velvety Petaloo flowers and leaves.  The pearl spray is from a friend.

On the back corner, I added a little bow with a charm that reads "Made with Love."  It actually helps hide where the trim was joined together.

Last but not least is a photo of the inside of the box and lid.  It was a bit tricky trying to get that tiny trim to adhere to all the edges and corners.  My fingers didn't have a lot of room to work in!

This box was made for a swap with a sweet friend.  I wanted to make it extra special as she has been so kind to me.

I know this post was a bit longer than usual, but I hope you enjoyed it.  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by.  I appreciate each of your comments.  Have a wonderful week ahead!
