Altered Easter Egg

Happy Easter!  Can you believe we have snow in the forecast for tonight after several days this past week with temperatures in the 70s?  Not that I'm complaining as I do love snow!

For my project today, I altered a plastic egg that I purchased at JoAnn's.  I started by covering it with a layer of Tim Holtz tissue paper.  As I could still see the pink egg underneath, I gave it another layer of the tissue paper.  Unfortunately, I could still see the pink color.  I should have given it a coat of gesso first.  Next, I decided to cover the outside of the egg with a lacy fabric to try to tone down the pink color.  I wasn't quite happy with the result but continued on!  I then applied some lace trims,  braiding and pearls around the opening.  Taking a small twig wreath, I glued the egg to it as a base and then gave it a coat of gesso.  After that, I placed some moss inside the egg and stood a Tim Holtz paper doll in the moss.  A tiny bunny was added in front the of girls' feet.  Flowers from Tim Holtz and Prima were tucked into the moss.  A seam binding bow was the finishing touch.

Here you can see the back of the egg somewhat.  I also added some Prima flowers around the wreath base.

Here are a couple of photos from each side.

Well, that's it for me today.  I wish everyone a happy, blessed Easter.  Enjoy your Sunday.

Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.  I appreciate your kind comments.  Have a wonderful week ahead!

  8. This is such an amazing idea for an Easter project Patty! So beautiful with all the pearls and laces. I love the way you created a little scene inside, and the circle of flowers around the base is wonderful. My favourite detail though, is that wee bunny in the garden. Oh my gosh, that is so adorable, LOVE IT!! hugs :)
