Just One More
Just popping in to share one more August birthday card. This one was for my Dad's 80th birthday a couple of weeks ago. I started out by making a kraft card base. The pattern papers are from Colorbok. I faux stitched in brown ink around the green paper. The diecuts and tags are from Recollections. The felt vine is Prima. I made a bow from hemp and attached a button and tag onto it. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. I also inked the edges with brown chalk ink except for the card base which is edged with white chalk ink.
I also used some Therm-o-Web foam square to give a bit of dimension. I struggle with making masculine cards, but I do like how this one turned out. Hope you do, also!
It's the start of a long Labor Day holiday weekend here in the States, so I hope everyone enjoys it. And, of course, I wish a fabulous weekend for everyone everywhere! Thanks for stopping by and leaving such nice comments. I really appreciate them and you!

More August Birthday Cards
This has been a month filled with birthdays, so I've been creating quite a few cards and have a couple to share today.
This first card features mainly Prima products--papers, flowers, chipboard. The tag, pearls and trim are from Recollections. The doily is Martha Stewart, butterfly is K&Co, and the smile charm is Making Memories. I made this card for a dear friend's granddaughter who I just love to pieces.
This next card I put together in a hurry for a co-worker's birthday. I'm not sure if the pattern paper is Prima or maybe Webster's Pages as it was given to me. I do know the layered flower and butterfly are Prima, the rhinestones are Recollections, and the tag is Martha Stewart. The brad used for the flower is from Bazzill. The tag can be removed to use as a bookmark or for something else.
My sweet little Maltese (Jasper) just came over and curled up next to my arm as I'm sitting on the sofa writing this post. Little things like this just melt my heart! I'll be back at the end of the week with more birthday cards. It's been quite awhile since I've done a layout, so I'm kind of getting an urge to try my hand at one again. We'll see. Have a wonderful week!

Bloomin' Birthday
Hey there everyone! I hope your weekend has been good. Today, my Dad celebrated his 80th birthday. We had family for dinner at at a local restaurant to celebrate. I feel blessed to still have both my parents in my life. I did make a card for his birthday and will share it another time.
August is filled with quite a few birthdays for family and friends. I've been cardmaking nonstop it seems as it takes me quite awhile until I feel satisfied with the finished product (although there are times that it just doesn't turn out like I pictured it in my head). This card was made for my sister-in-law who recently celebrated her 50th birthday. I used mainly all Webster's Pages products here.
Isn't the paper pretty? I handcut some flowers and attached them to the upper left corner. I used my Martha Stewart lace punch on the strip of paper that the bloomers are on. An EK doily punch was used on the pattern paper that I simply flipped over to the other side and accented with Dazzle Me gems around the yellow bloomer. A PTI stamp sentiment was used on a Martha Stewart tag that I inserted under the border strip and finished off with a little handcut bee.
I really hate to throw out the little scraps of leftover paper, so I used them to decorate the envelope. The floral circles are simply the centers from the doily shape which I accented with Liquid Pearls. I then fussy cut the "postage stamp" and added two handcut flowers to it. To acknowledge my SIL's 50th birthday, I just wrote 50 cents on the flower.
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your sweet comments; and if you would, please keep my mother-in-law in your prayers as she is undergoing surgery tomorrow and also my mother who is having her pacemaker replaced on Tuesday. Have a wonderful week!

Dreamer
As you probably read in my last post, I celebrated my birthday earlier this month. In our local paper is the daily horoscope, so I decided to see how mine described a person born on that day. It said I was a dreamer. Well, that made me laugh! I can't tell you how many times over the years my mom has said to me, "Patty, you're a dreamer." The card I'm sharing today was made with that thought in mind. I recently saw a card created by Lea Lawson on the Prima blog that I fell in love with, so I lifted that design from her beautiful card. Everything about this card uses things I love.
The paper, resin frame, and ballerina image are from Melissa Frances (how I love her products). The flowers are Prima. I used a Martha Stewart pearl and rhinestone sticker frame around the resin frame and a little Jolee's swirl in the upper left corner. The heart-shaped lock charm is from Recollections. I stamped the sentiment onto a Martha Stewart label.
I am not always happy with some of the things I make, but I really do love how this turned out thanks to inspiration from Lea Lawson. Have a wonderful week!

Smile
Yesterday was my birthday. My birthdays tend to go on for a stretch, which I don't mind at all! lol It got started off on Thursday with happy mail from my sweet friend, Audrey. She sent me the prettiest handmade birthday card (thank you, Audrey). I love it! There's something about handmade things that I treasure. My husband and son took me out to dinner twice and got me the most delicious cake from my favorite bakery. When I return to work on Tuesday, we will be celebrating my birthday as well as the birthday of one of my co-workers (we love an excuse to eat cake!). One of my godsons surprised me today with a gift that is appropriate for tonight. We are experiencing a line of thunderstorms that will continue until tomorrow. He gave me a stained glass butterfly candle holder with a candle called "Storm Watch." How appropriate! I also spent some fun time making a few cards and catching up on some reading.
The card I'm sharing today was made with Recollections cardstock for the base. The pattern papers are from MME's Lost & Found collection. I layered a strip of polka dot paper with a larger dot pennant as well as a doily onto the daisy paper. I wrapped some deep pink twill around that. I used some Martha Stewart glitter as well as some Antique Linen Distress Ink on the butterfly and placed some Prima flowers spritzed with S.W.A.K. Glimmer Mist, a button, twine and tag on it. The stamped sentiment is from PTI. To finish it off, I added two little buttons to the lower right corner.
Well, that's it for now. I'm going to make a cup of tea and plan to finish reading the last book of the Hunger Games Trilogy (Am I the only one out there who hasn't completed the series yet?). Have a great week!
