Playing with Copics

OK--I am attempting this post using Google Chrome.  I think I've figured out what to do and will be able to upload my photos to this post smoothly.  We will see.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

We woke up to about a half inch of snow today.  I guess it's better than nothing.  One of my sisters-in-law has a birthday this week, so I made this card for her.  I have slowly been building a collection of Copic Markers.  I usually buy them when I have a coupon which means it takes a bit of time to get a variety.  However, ReNae Allen, my sweet blogging friend, recently sent me some pretty fairy stamps and duplicate Copics she had which then gave me enough of a variety to work with.  I stamped the image on a piece of off-white cardstock and just colored it in.  I did not bother to watch a tutorial on how to use the markers, so the colors aren't blended properly.  Next time, I'll try it the correct way!

It doesn't look too bad.  The pattern paper, fern and tiny butterfly are from K&Co.  The large butterfly is from Recollections.  The flowers are Petaloo.  I sprayed them with Sand, Frost and SWAK Glimmer Mists. I used a bit of Stickles to add some sparkle to the fairy's eyes and wings, candle and tiny butterflies.  The sentiment is from PTI.

The ferns were cut from a larger diecut that a cut apart and put under the flowers.  I really enjoyed coloring the image.  Brought back memories of my school days.  I used to love to write stories and illustrate them.  I definitely want to do more stamping.  It was so relaxing and fun!

Thanks so much everyone for stopping by and leaving your sweet comments.  Hope all is going well for you. We may be getting a plowable snowfall on Friday, so it will be a good excuse for me to spend a lot of time crafting.  But then, do we really need an excuse to spend a lot of time crafting?  Of course, work either in or out of the home and the fact we need to eat does tend to get in the way.

  5. Hi Patty: I think you did a great job with the Copic colouring.Such a pretty fairy image!
Might I give you a helpful hint re paper to use with Copics? Regular cardstock absorbs the Copic ink making blending difficult, and you will use a lot more ink from your markers. Coated paper (such as LaBlanche Specialty paper) will allow you to work with the ink much easier. I was pretty frustrated at first using Copics, then the lady at my stamping store suggested trying the coated type. The difference was amazing! Hope this helps!

  6. Sorry, Patty, I meant to say "uncoated". My brain wasn't quite in gear, eh? LOL
You might think that the Copic ink would bleed through even more on uncoated paper, but it doesn't with the LaBlanche Specialty paper. The ink stays on the surface allowing you to work and blend the shades very easily.
Again, sorry for the wrong info.
