Prima Gift Card Holder

I really had intended to post this earlier in the week, but better late than never!  Today, I'm sharing a gift card holder that I downloaded from the Friday Freebies on Prima Marketing's Facebook page.  The image is from the Nature's Garden line.

This photo shows the holder with the flap open.  It folds at the fairy's knees.  I tried to create a semi circle with the swirl and flowers.  Can you see the little gem frog that is connecting the tiny flower to the larger flower and swirl?  All embellishments used here are from Prima.  And, yes, some of them are a few years old!  They are so pretty that I hate to use them; but really, what am I holding on to them for?  The only thing not from Prima is a bit of Stickles that I added to the fairy and butterfly.

Forgive me, I accidentally clicked two similar images and don't know how to remove one!!

Here is what the back looks like with the flap tucked in.  I cut the swirl in two and was able to use it on the front as well as the back.  Can you believe, I forgot to take a photo of the front folded up?

Well, that's it for today.  I am looking forward to the long holiday weekend.  I have started an art journal and hope to work on that over the next few days.  We don't have anything planned for the break--just playing it by ear.  Have a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for stopping by!

Masculine Birthday Card

Where has the time gone?!!  I had a fantastic weekend.  As some of you may know, our son was adopted from Peru 23 years ago.  We always made it a priority to keep in touch with the families who were in our adoption group at the time.  We haven't been too good about keeping in touch over the last couple of years; however, on Friday, we rectified that.  It was wonderful to see the children who are now amazing young men and women.  It was nice to see that everyone easily related to each other like no time has passed.

This weekend was my Dad's birthday.  We went to out to dinner and had strawberry shortcake for dessert when we got home.  In honor of the occasion, I made this card for him.

Just about everything used here is from Tim Holtz (including the twine) except for the Prima flowers and brad and Bead Landings gears.  I simply layered the cardstock.  Pinking shears were used to create the map frame which was then attached with foam dots for dimension.  I made the banner and inked it with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  Of course, I found it hard to stay away from adding a flower.  It originally was cream color so I just colored it randomly with Distress Inks in Tea Dye, Forest Moss and Broken China.  The brad is from the Prima Engraver line.

You can click on the photos for a closer look.

That's about it for today.  I do have more to share and hope to be back in a couple of days.  Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment.

Bonjour

Hi everyone!  Hope all is well in your little corner of the world.  Thank you all for the sweet birthday wishes and comments on my last post.  I appreciate them as well as each and every one of you.

The card I'm sharing today began with a Tim Holtz embossing folder and cardstock.  Martha Stewart punches were used to create the strip down the side of the card.  The large flower is from Maya Road.  The tiny flowers and leaves are Prima.  The butterfly is from Recollections.  The Bonjour stamp and the decorative stamps are from Crafty Secrets.  The label is also from Martha Stewart.  Ink used is from VersaFine in black.

And here is a view from the side.  The card was so quick and easy to make.

Well, my friends, that's it for today.  I can sense a touch of fall in the air.  By no means is it cool, but a definite change is there (at least for this week!).  We are expecting temperatures only in the 70s, which is unusual for August.  I'm ready.  I love the fall and winter!  Have a wonderful week!

Another Birthday

Yes, today is another birthday for me.  I don't mind getting older (who is getting younger?).  I one time saw a quote on Pinterest to the effect of not regretting that you are getting older because it is a privilege denied to many.  How true.  Last evening, I was treated to dinner by my son.  Today, I was treated to lunch by my husband.  I am sufficiently stuffed.  We will be having cake and ice cream later on.  Will be eating lightly the rest of the week!  I do like birthdays that last more than one day!

Today, I have a little gift card holder to share.  The design was centered around the pretty yellow and gray Webster's Pages cameo.  The envelope was cut on my beloved Big Kick using a Tim Holtz pocket envelope die.  The paper used for the envelope is Tim Holtz and the pattern paper is MME.  I stamped some text from 7 Gypsies onto the striped paper.  A bit of ruffled lace was glued around the bottom.  The flowers are Recollections toned down a bit with Sand Glimmer Mist.  I added some Liquid Pearls around the scallop circle.

The green pine branches were made with a Martha Stewart punch.

Foam dots were placed under the scallop circle for dimension.

On the back of the envelope, I attached two brads and a bit of twine to form a closure.  There is a little bit of space here where you could add a sentiment tag.

We are having absolutely gorgeous weather today.  Perfect day for celebrating!  Have a wonderful week!
