Just Because

Hi everyone!  I hope you are enjoying this time of the year.  Spring is blooming out here, although the weather is a bit on the cool, breezy side but I love it this way.  The trees look so beautiful with the leaves, as well as flowers on some, just starting to emerge.  We had a wonderful Easter weekend spent with family.  I tackled  a good bit of spring housecleaning also.

Today, I have a card and altered container to share.  The papers used are from Graphic 45.  I love their sweet collections.

The beautiful larger flowers are from Recollections.  The smaller flowers as well as the Graphic 45 papers were given to me by a sweet blogging friend, Ellen Kristiansen.  The gold butterfly is from Martha Stewart.

Here is a view of the top of the container.  It was very simple to put together.  I just used the papers from A Secret Garden to cover it, glued pearls and lace around it, and then topped it with pretty flower.

The card says spring to me!  I added a bit of cheesecloth under the postage photo for some texture.  The lace border punch and butterfly are from Martha Stewart.  The gem branch was from some older embellishments I had in my stash.  Lace trim is from Joann's.  Sentiment from PTI.  I added a touch of Stickles to the fussy cut bow and key.

I want to mention that Ellen is having a giveaway on her blog to celebrate her 4th anniversary of blogging.  I hope you'll stop by and see all the beautiful creations she makes.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for the kind comments you leave.  Have a wonderful week!

Enjoy - Laugh

Hi everyone.  I hope you've had a wonderful weekend.  I finally started my spring housecleaning and managed to put a dent in it.  Because of that, I only had a short time to make a quick birthday card for one of my nephews.

I began with a cream card base.  The papers are from Tim Holtz except for the corrugated cardstock from DCWV.  All the edges were inked with tea dye Distress Ink, and the corrugated cardstock was given a light coat of picket fence Distress Paint.  The butterfly sticker was attached with a foam square and highlighted with Stickles.  I used a Fiskar's punch for the banner and adhered word stickers from Tim Holtz.  Recollection wooden hearts were given a coat of clear rock candy Distress Stickles and a bit of twine connects the pennants.  The card is a bit dark so I tried to brighten it up a bit with the Recollection silver pearls and a Tim Holtz mirrored star.

My nephew turned 11 years old, so I wanted to emphasize that by punching one of the banners around the number 11.  I used foam squares to give the banner some dimension.

Well, that's all for me today.  Our temperatures have soared into the 80s, a bit too quick for me.  By mid-week the temps are supposed to drop back to the 50s.  Have a wonderful week!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Easter Wishes

Hello everyone!  It is a beautiful day here today--sunny with a cool breeze.  While our nights are still a bit cold, I think winter may be on its way out.  My bruises from the injury to my forehead are fading and I no longer have that smoky eye look to one eye!

With Easter fast approaching, I though I'd better get a start on cards for the holiday.  Everything used on this card is from Recollections or Michael's except for the large fabric flower from Jolee's Boutique.  I tried a different approach on making this card by tearing pieces of paper and piecing them together, although you really can't see it here.  The papers were rather bright, so I have them a light coat of gesso.  A Wilton doily was placed on top and then a floral image was added to that with pop dots.  Flowers were placed at opposite corners.  The wood leaf was given a coat of bundled sage Distress Paint.  The trim across the bottom was from the bargain bin at Michael's.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

I felt the card still needed something, so I added the pretty faceted rhinestones from Recollections to finish it off.

On another note, I didn't realize that some people may not know who I am because by blogger profile just says pattyo while google has me as Patty O'Malley, so I updated my blogger name to Patty O'Malley.  So if you are use to seeing me as pattyo, it is now Patty O'Malley.  Thank you for stopping by.  I always appreciate the comments you leave.  Have a wonderful week!
