What to Make with This

Awhile back, I purchased this pre-decorated burlap ATC from Recollections.  I kept looking at it and wasn't sure how to use it, so I decided to make a tag with it.

Above,  you see the ATC in its original state.  Below is what I did with it.

I covered a kraft tag with Prima's Printery paper and added a piece of crochet lace at the bottom.  On the side, I attached my beautiful Joy Crafts butterfly die distressed with tea dye ink.  To set off the ATC, I put some tea dyed cheesecloth under it as well as a Recollections flower and used foam tape for dimension.  An ornate vintage button was placed in the upper right hand corner and a piece of twill tied at the top.

I am pleased with how it turned out.  It came together fairly quickly.  I also decorated the back but forgot to take a photo of it.  I am entering this in the challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow.

Today is a long weekend here in the states celebrating Labor Day.  We have a family BBQ to go to today and then the holiday itself on Monday.  Wishing you the best in the upcoming week.  Thanks so much for taking the time to visit and the sweet messages you leave.

Week of Celebrations

This past week has surely gone by so quickly.  It's had its ups and downs, but let's concentrate of the ups!  We celebrated my father's birthday on Tuesday and then a dear friend took me out for a belated birthday lunch on Thursday.  Yesterday, we attended a housewarming party for another friend's daughter.  Today, we are celebrating a friend's parents 50th wedding anniversary which brings me to the card I made for the occasion.

The papers and banner are from Melissa Frances' C'est la Vie collection and were inked around the edges in brown.  The frame, from Recollections, was painted white, coated in glitter and highlighted with pearls.  The tiny roses were given a touch of Diamond Stickles.  The butterflies were punched from one of the pattern papers with a Martha Stewart punch.  All pearls are also from Recollections.  The gold stickers are MME.

Well, I need to get ready for the next celebration.  And then I need to get the diet back on track!  Have a wonderful week and thanks for taking the time to stop by.

*It's been awhile since I entered any challenges, but I think I will submit this card to the current "Celebrate" challenge at The Shabby Tearoom.

**Just popping in again to let you know that Linda at SWG Original Designs is sharing Blogversary Candy.  You have until August 31, 2014, to take part in the giveaway.  She makes the most beautiful cards!

Enjoy Your Day

My Dad's birthday is this week, so I made this card for him.  Everything is from Tim Holtz except for the tiny tag, vintage button and sentiment.

The papers are from the Crowded Attic and Wallflower collections.  The branches and leaves are cut with Tim's Spring Greenery dies.  I added two bare branches under the robin and a couple others peeking out from under the clock.  I then drew some veins onto the leaves.  A couple of gears and a clock hand dress up the clockface.  Some foam tape was put under the Thrift Shop ephemera pieces for dimension.   A few chitchat word stickers were added last.

This card is a bit larger in size than I normally make measuring 6-1/2x6-1/2 inches.  You can click on each image if you would like to see a larger view of the details.

It's kind of a transitional weather day here today.  We've had some almost springlike days this past week--very unusual for August.  I have to admit I loved that bit of a touch of fall air in the mornings!  Have a wonderful week!  Thanks so much for stopping by and your sweet comments.

Butterfly Tag with Firefly Paper

Hi everyone!  Thanks so much for the sweet comments and birthday wishes.  I had an enjoyable, relaxing day for my birthday.  We spent part of the day at our favorite smorgasbord in Amish country where they also have an amazing unique gift shop filled to the brim with all things wonderful.  We stopped at a farm stand on the way home to stock up on some fresh produce.  There were also some extra special surprises waiting for me when I got home.  Later in the week, I met one of my cousins for lunch and also met up for a yearly get-together with friends and their families.  It's back to work tomorrow and the regular routine!

One thing that is a must for me to do each week is to spend some time crafting.  I look forward to that time so much.  Even though I didn't have much time to spare this past week, I managed to put together a quick tag.

My idea for this card was much better in my mind than what actually came out on the tag itself!  I blame it on rushing!  Anyway, I covered a pre-made tag with Prima Firefly paper.  Love that sweet collection!  I adhered part of a doily to the left side.  The pretty flowers are Prima that I have been hoarding forever.  The wooden butterflies are from Recollections and were given a generous coating of Martha Stewart glitter.  The three tiny crystals are also Prima.  I tucked in pieces of cheesecloth around the flowers, tied a bit of twill at the top, and then spritzed everything with Lemon Meringue Glimmer Mist (I think I should have skipped that part!).

Well, that's it for today.  I do hope the week ahead is a good one for all.  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by.

Firefly Congratulations

Happy Sunday!  I hope you are having a good weekend.  I took tomorrow off from work for my birthday, so I get to enjoy an extra long weekend.  We will be going to my favorite smorgasbord to celebrate tomorrow.  Tonight, we are having a small family celebration with cake and ice cream.

My card today was made with 6 x 6 paper from Prima's Firefly collection.  I love the watercolor like palette of these papers.

This card is very simple and came together quickly.  I tried my hand for the first time at using the resist canvas label from Recollections.  I spritzed it with Recollections sprays in pink and purple.  I didn't quite achieve the color variation I was looking to do.  The sentiment was stamped in Archival Ink from Ranger.  The flowers, I believe, are Prima.  The butterflies were made from the same paper using a Martha Stewart punch and highlighted with rhinestones also from Recollections.  The crochet lace is from Joann's.

Well, that's it for today.  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and for the sweet comments you leave.  I wish a wonderful week ahead for everyone!
