Winter Angels Altered Canvas

Hi everyone!  This past week finally brought a much anticipated snowfall that didn't disappear the same day.  We got about six inches of the white stuff before it changed to an ice storm.  With the very cold temperatures in place for the week, most of the snow is still around.  However, I am sure it will disappear this week as temperatures will climb to the 50s.

Before spring officially arrives tomorrow, I have a winter-themed altered canvas to share with you.  I wanted to showcase the sweet angel image using the reverse side of the canvas.

The canvas is a small size measuring 6x6 inches.  I began by giving it a coat of white gesso.  After gluing the image onto the canvas, I covered  the canvas in a variety of lacy trims from Joann's.  A string of blue pearls was added to enhance the image.  Next, the embellishing began.  The white floral cluster is from Hobby Lobby.  The snowflakes and larger flowers are from Recollections.  The word "Peace" was diecut from silver metallic cardstock.

In the photo above, you can see where I used a Tim Holtz snowflake stencil and some Golden Pearl Mica Flake paste to decorate the sides and back of the canvas.  If you click on each image, you can view the details better.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by.  I do appreciate all your kind comments.  Have a wonderful week ahead!

  5. This is such a beautiful winter decor piece, Patty! I think it's so clever how you use the back of the canvas! Makes such a perfect little window opening and adds great depth to the design. Beautiful vintage image and combo of trims and pearls. Love the stenciled snowflakes, too!
So glad you finally got some snow in your area! I know how you love your winter snow! :D

  6. Wow Patty, what a gorgeous reverse canvas! Love your use of laces and the flower arrangement is so beautiful!! Seems we are having similar weather again. We got dumped on, then we had a nice day and some melted, but now the temps have fallen so low that it's even too cold for ME to go outside!! Here's hoping we both get warmer weather soon. hugs :)

  7. Wow! How gorgeous is your winter creation with the canvas! How creative to use the backside! It is a true beauty with the lovely image , flowers, and lace!! We received about 2 inches of snow last week, which didn't stay long. The grass is turning green and signs of spring are on the way. Temps should be in the 60's by the weekend!:)
