Altered Vintage Heart

Hi there!  Are you watching the Super Bowl today?  Things in my neck of the wood are all pro Eagles.  I must say I am not particularly an Eagles fan.  I do not plan on watching the game but will probably tune into the Half-Time Show.

My project share today is a vintage heart I made for a swap.  I free cut the heart shape from a cardboard shipping box.  Both sides were then covered with paper from K&Co.  The edges were inked and distressed.  I then covered the side edges with a flatback pink pearl trim.  A small ruffled fabric trim outlines the heart shape.  Next, lace trim, a doily, a charm, fabric rosettes and vintage buttons were added.  On the right side, I placed a photo of a young girl and inked/distressed the edges.  Tea-stained twill from Melissa Phillips was then tied around the heart.

On the back of the heart, I placed a braided trim for hanging accented with two vintage buttons and hemp bows.  I saw this idea on You Tube as an alternate way to hand something but I don't remember whose channel it was.

This heart came together quite easily.  It isn't very big--probably about 6 inches wide.  I meant to measure it before I mailed it.

Thank you so much for taking time to stop by my blog and for the kind comments you leave.  I appreciate each one.  Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
