Webster's Pages Card

Just a short post today.  I made this card for my niece's birthday using papers from Webster's Pages Hollywood Vogue line.  In fact, everything used here is from Webster's except the pearl swirl which is from Zva.  My niece has always loved the theatre and performs with local theatre groups, so I decided to insert her photo in the film strip along the side.

I used a Webster's fabric piece and attached the sentiment from a journaling card that I cut out and adhered with foam squares.  The flower in the upper corner is part of a flower pick with a bloomer attached.

I hope the week ahead is a good one for everyone.  Thanks for stopping by!

Do What You Love

Today, I have another altered box to share.  The box is from AC Moore and I gave it a coat of white paint.  I then covered it in paper from Webster's Pages Hollywood Vogue line.  The only problem was I had a very difficult time getting the lid on and then it wouldn't come off easily.  I was afraid to force it and end up ripping the paper, so it is now an unusable box but makes a nice decoration.  Lace from Joann Fabrics was attached around the lid.  A Martha Stewart adhesive diecut was adhered to the top of the lid as well as buttons from Joann's.  I love the Making Memories metal tag that is on top of the buttons.  Prima flowers, Webster's sparkler button, seam binding ribbon, twine and a tag stamped with a PTI sentiment were layered together.  A little butterfly and glitter finished it off.

I used my Martha Stewart frond punch to fill in some areas on top of the box as you can see in the photo above.

I also made a matching card using the Webster paper and rose and pearl sparklers.  Flower is Prima.  Stamp is from PTI.  Double row of pearls is Recollections.

Have a wonderful weekend!  I'm off to meet some friends for lunch.  Thanks for stopping by!

Liebster Award

My blog friend, Maria at Maria's Merry Makings, recently extended the Liebster Blog Award to me.  It is for blogs that have less than 200 followers.  I'm supposed to extend this to five other blogs with under 200
followers but, right now, I don't know any.  Thanks, Maria, for the award!

St. Patty's Day

Happy St. Patty's Day!  I always feel a special connection to this day since I am half Irish and it is my name (female version).  I had the wonderful fortune of visiting Ireland a couple of years ago and long to go back someday!  It truly is as green as the photos you see.  We saw five different rainbows in a short span of time one day and I swear one ended in the river we were driving past!  Maybe the pot of gold was there?

Anyway, in honor of the holiday, I have a card to share.  I used green and yellow Core'dinations cardstock for the base.  I was given a set of Studio G St. Patty's Day stamps last year that I used here.  I lightly stamped shamrocks on the yellow cardstock and used a sentiment from the set at the top of the card.  Another sentiment was stamped on the tag using VersaFine black ink.  Green and yellow ribbon was tied around the card into a bow.  I layered a cluster of flowers together and attached it with a Crate Paper brad.  The butterfly is Prima and the rhinestones are a combination of Recollections and Queen & Co.

I found this sweet little Boyds Bear while lunching at my favorite smorgasbord, Shady Maple (they also have a huge gift shop).  When I saw that we shared the same last name that was on his tag, Shamrock O'Malley, I had to bring him home with me!

I am going to sit back now with a cup of Irish Breakfast Tea, some delicious Irish soda bread, and watch "The Quiet Man."  Wishing everyone a wonderful St. Patty's Day!  Be safe!

Blue & White Wedding

Recently, I was asked by a friend to do a layout of her daughter's wedding to put in a frame.  I did a layout for her of her son's wedding that she framed and wanted to do the same for her daughter's.

My friend provided the blue paper which is from Stampin' Up.  I made a frame for the main photo using a Martha Stewart border punch and shiny Bazzill white cardstock.  Another friend, Helen Liu made the beautiful white roses (you can view Helen's blog if you click her name on my sidebar.  Helen made the shower and wedding invitations also in the same color scheme).  A touch of Frosted Lace Stickles was added to the roses to give them a bit of sparkle.  The white silky leaves are Prima.  I used an EK circle punch for the sweet photo of the bride and groom and Zva pearls to surround it.  All the pearl swirls are from Zva.  Peeking out among the flowers are some white fronds I made from a leftover piece of the Bazzill cardstock and another Martha Stewart punch.  I got this idea from watching a Live with Prima tutorial the other night where Sharon used the fronds to fill in her cluster of flowers.  Love that idea!

Above is a closeup of the flowers so you can see the dimension.  I added a few light blue satin flowers as well as a flower with a pearl heart center (I'm not sure who made those as they were given to me).

And this is the framed result.  The white frame really adds the perfect finish to the layout.  Sorry for the poor photo quality.  It was a beautiful sunny day but not too good for photographing glass.

I think spring is here to stay for quite awhile.  Our forecasted temperatures are 10-20 degrees higher than normal for this time of year.  I spent some time today putting away my winter decorations as they were really out of place with the daffodils blooming outside!  It is a good feeling putting out the soft spring decorations.  I hope you have an enjoyable week ahead.  Thanks for stopping by!

Quick & Simple

I recently needed to make some thank you cards in a short amount of time, and these are what I came up with:

K&Co Blue Awning papers, chipboard, stickers, brad and tags were used as well as MM jelly labels, Recollections rhinestones, Stickles and ribbon.  Here's a closer look at each one.

Nothing fancy, just quick and simple.  Thanks for stopping by.  I hope the week ahead is a good one for everyone.

March Already!

It's hard to believe March is here already, especially since winter never made much of an appearance.  Most are happy about that, but I did miss the snow.  The light coating we got a couple of times doesn't count!

Anyway, I have two cards to share today.  The first card uses K&Co Life's Journey papers, Making Memories stickers, and a Martha Stewart embossed zig zag punch.  The solid color zig zag strips are from Bazzill cardstock.  I used a PTI stamp on the smaller tag and attached it with a piece of twine to two layered buttons.

For the envelope, I created a zig zag strip on the left hand side and stamped the envelope with a stamp from Hero Arts.  Sepia color ink from Versa Fine was used for the stamping.

The second card uses papers from My Mind's Eye, a Petaloo flower, and a sentiment from PTI.  I made this for a sweet friend who I met through blogging that is going through a rough patch right now.  I used a Martha Stewart lace edge punch on some scraps of solid tan cardstock I had to dress up the card a bit as well as on a piece of MME paper.  The ribbon was on a spool in the dollar bin at Michael's.

That's it for today.  I do have some thank you cards to share later this weekend.  Thanks so much for stopping by and especially thank you to those who leave a sweet comment.  I do love hearing from you.  Enjoy your weekend!

Addendum:  I'm just looking at this last card and it looks like the ribbon doesn't match the papers.  In real life they are exactly the same colors.  I guess it didn't photograph well.
